Marketing Associate

Remote · Early-stage startupPart-timeMarketing

TL;DR - Upsoma is hiring a Marketing Associate to sharpen our narrative, run content and growth experiments, and turn product, learner, and market signals into repeatable demand.

About Upsoma

Upsoma is building an AI-native platform for personalized learning and skill development.

Most learning platforms tell people what content to consume. Upsoma is designed to answer a more important set of questions:

What do you already know? What are you missing? What should you learn next -- and why?

We combine Skill Graphs, Skill Telemetry, readiness assessment, adaptive learning paths, practice, and progress signals to create learning experiences that respond to each learner as they grow.

Our MVP is live and already functional. It has been built by a highly technical founding team, and we are now preparing for the next stage: turning a strong technical product into a clear category, a memorable story, and repeatable growth.

We are looking for a Marketing Associate to help make that happen.

The Role

You will help turn Upsoma's early product traction into a sharper market narrative and a more consistent growth motion.

This is not a role where you will inherit a finished brand, a mature funnel, and a fully documented playbook.

You will work directly with the founders and product team to understand what Upsoma is building, translate complex AI-native learning capabilities into language people immediately understand, and ship marketing experiments that teach us what resonates.

Your immediate focus will be building momentum around our core product capabilities:

  • Skill Graph -- explaining how Upsoma maps skills, relationships, gaps, and next steps.
  • Skill Telemetry -- showing how learning activity becomes useful evidence of capability and readiness.
  • Adaptive Learning -- helping learners and teams understand why Upsoma paths evolve as people progress.

You will have meaningful influence over how Upsoma talks about itself, which audiences we learn from first, and how early demand is created.

What You'll Do

Positioning & Narrative

  • Audit existing marketing surfaces and identify where the story is unclear, too generic, or too difficult to understand.
  • Refine Upsoma positioning across the homepage, enterprise page, pricing, careers, launch materials, email, and social channels.
  • Translate rough product direction into sharp messaging, landing pages, launch plans, and short-form product explanations.
  • Develop category language for AI-native skill acquisition so learners, teams, academies, and partners can describe what Upsoma does.
  • Turn technical product capabilities into human language without flattening what makes the product distinctive.

Content & Growth Loops

  • Build a content engine around Skill Graph, Skill Telemetry, adaptive learning, readiness assessment, AI capability, and workforce transformation.
  • Run experiments across founder-led content, community, partnerships, lifecycle email, SEO, launch campaigns, and social channels.
  • Turn product usage, learner stories, release notes, market signals, and customer conversations into useful content.
  • Create campaigns that drive qualified conversations, signups, activation, and partnership interest.
  • Help shape content formats that Upsoma can repeat: explainers, product stories, comparison pages, launch notes, audience-specific pages, and case-study drafts.

Measurement & Operating Cadence

  • Build lightweight reporting that shows which messages, audiences, and channels are working.
  • Partner with the founders to set weekly marketing priorities and ship marketing with the same discipline as product.
  • Close the loop between product analytics, sales conversations, support questions, user research, and marketing decisions.
  • Maintain a backlog of marketing experiments and help decide what to double down on, change, or stop.
  • Make learning visible: what we tried, what happened, what we learned, and what we are doing next.

What We're Looking For

You are likely a strong fit if:

  • You have experience marketing a modern web, SaaS, AI, learning, developer, productivity, or technical product.
  • You write clearly and can make complex product concepts feel obvious.
  • You can move comfortably between positioning, content, campaigns, and basic analytics.
  • You have strong product taste and can tell when copy, hierarchy, or messaging feels generic.
  • You are comfortable working directly with founders and engineers in a fast-moving early-stage environment.
  • You care about measurable outcomes: qualified conversations, activation, retention, conversion, community engagement, and market learning.
  • You can take loosely defined direction and turn it into useful work without waiting for a perfect brief.
  • You are curious about AI, learning systems, workforce capability, and how people actually build skills.
  • You can use AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate research, drafting, editing, experimentation, and campaign production.

Strong Signals

We would especially like to hear from you if you have:

  • Built demand, narrative, or community for an early-stage product.
  • Shipped landing pages, launch campaigns, lifecycle emails, social campaigns, partner content, case studies, or founder-led content.
  • Worked on learning, education, workforce, AI, developer tools, SaaS, productivity, or talent products.
  • Helped define a category, reposition a product, or explain a complex technical product to a broader audience.
  • Built simple reporting around content, campaigns, activation, pipeline, or conversion.
  • Experience turning customer conversations, usage data, or product telemetry into marketing insight.
  • A portfolio of writing that is clear, specific, and useful rather than generic.
  • A bias toward shipping small experiments quickly and learning from what happens.

None of these is individually required. Evidence of clear thinking, ownership, and shipped work matters more than checking every box.

What Success Looks Like

In the first phase of the engagement, we expect you to help us:

  1. Audit the current Upsoma marketing story.
  2. Clarify the core narrative around Skill Graph, Skill Telemetry, and Adaptive Learning.
  3. Identify the highest-priority audiences and messages to test.
  4. Improve conversion-focused pages and launch surfaces.
  5. Build a repeatable content and campaign backlog.
  6. Ship the first set of marketing experiments across content, lifecycle, community, and partnerships.
  7. Create simple reporting that helps the team understand what is working and why.

Why Join Upsoma?

Shape the story early

The product is still early enough that the category, narrative, and go-to-market motion are not locked. You will help define them.

Work directly with the founding team

You will collaborate closely with a small, highly technical team without layers of approvals or slow handoffs.

Market a real product, not vapor

Upsoma already has a functional product, real learning flows, and a clear direction. Your work will turn that substance into a sharper public story.

Build systems, not one-off posts

We want someone who thinks about repeatable marketing systems: audience insight, narrative, content engines, experiments, lifecycle loops, and measurement.

Grow with the product

This will begin as a part-time engagement, with the potential to develop into a much larger role as the company and product grow.

How to Apply

Keep your application concise.

Please include:

  • Links to work you have shipped.
  • Examples of product, content, campaign, launch, community, or growth work.
  • One example where your work meaningfully improved clarity, activation, conversion, qualified pipeline, community engagement, or market learning.
  • A short explanation of the audience, the problem, what you changed, and what happened.

Please apply in English -- it is our working language, and you will be writing a lot of it if you join.

We care much more about clarity, taste, ownership, and evidence of impact than a perfect resume.
